Congratulations on your new piercing!
Finishing
A piercing heals best when left alone as much as possible. A healthy lifestyle will strengthen your immune system, so make sure to eat right, get enough sleep and drink plenty of water. It is normal to have moderate amounts of redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and minor bleeding in the early stages. Cold compresses (cold water on a clean compress/cotton pad) can relieve and reduce swelling. Do not use ice cubes, as this can cause frostbite.
Cleaning:
A healing piercing will usually exude a yellowish or whitish wound fluid. This fluid can solidify on the jewelry and should be cleaned once or twice a day throughout the healing period. You should not remove the jewelry when cleaning, and it is not necessary to move the jewelry to clean the part inside the piercing. You should shower daily and rinse the piercing well with warm water. This makes the crust that has solidified on the jewelry easier to remove afterwards. We recommend using sterile saline to clean the piercing. Always wash your hands before cleaning. Spray or drip sterile saline onto a clean q-tip and gently clean around the jewelry. Do not clean too hard or too much. Gently wipe dry with a clean q-tip after cleaning and showering/bathing .
All locations:
Do not touch the piercing with unwashed fingers.
Do not twist, move or play with the jewelry, it cannot become stuck.
Do not remove the jewelry. Keep the area as dry as possible.
No cosmetics on or around the area.
No swimming in a bathtub, pool, fresh water or sea for the first month.
Avoid pressure and rubbing from clothing etc.
Avoid wearing low-quality jewelry.
Change your bed linens and towels frequently, and avoid pets in bed.
Avoid chemical cleansers such as soap, chlorhexidine, Pyrisept, hydrogen peroxide, iodine, alcohol, etc.
Avoid sunbathing and saunas for the first month.
Additional tips for earlobe piercings:
We recommend waiting at least six months before changing your jewelry yourself. If your piercing is still leaking, you should not change it, but feel free to contact us for a follow-up appointment. Do not change it often at first. Continue to keep the area around your jewelry clean and dry even after you stop daily cleaning. For the first 12-18 months while the canal is being modeled, you should be careful when changing your jewelry, and what kind of jewelry you wear:
Avoid silver and other unsuitable materials. Silver can contain nickel, and cause irritation and allergies. It also tarnishes and turns black, which can in the worst case result in permanent discoloration of the skin around the hole. Titanium, gold (solid, not gold-plated) and good quality steel are recommended. Ask for nickel-free if you buy white gold.
Avoid dangling jewelry. The weight and design can lengthen the hole.
Don't go without jewelry. The hole shrinks quickly, and it can be difficult to put the jewelry back in. If you have trouble getting the jewelry in, you should contact us as soon as possible so we can help you.

ear piercing:
If you have long hair, you should put it up with an elastic band or clip to avoid irritating the piercing by constantly tucking your hair behind your ear.
Avoid phones, headsets, earplugs, tight headgear, and lying on your side.
Change your pillowcase often, or put a clean t-shirt over your pillow that you change daily.

Oral piercing:
Buy a new toothbrush. Avoid oral contact with others, even indirectly (such as sharing bottles, etc.).
Alcohol is a blood thinner, and consuming alcohol during the healing period can lead to swelling and bleeding.
You should rinse your mouth with alcohol-free/weak mouthwash twice a day, and rinse with salt water or water after each time you have had something in your mouth or smoked. Snuff is not recommended.
Salt water for mouthwash: Dissolve ¼ teaspoon of pure sea salt in 2.5 dl of freshly boiled water. Salt water has a short shelf life and should be changed daily.
Oral piercings often swell more than other locations, and you have been given a piece of jewelry with extra length to accommodate this. It is important to come back to have a shorter piece of jewelry changed after a few weeks, as a long piece of jewelry can cause irritation, wear, and damage to your teeth and gums. Drinking cold water or cooling with ice can reduce swelling. Anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen and naproxen can also reduce swelling and relieve soreness. Follow the instructions in the package insert.
Once the piercing has healed, you should include the jewelry in your toothbrushing routine, as the jewelry will also collect plaque.

Avoid unprotected sex, including oral sex (this applies even if you have a regular partner).
It is not necessary to avoid sex during the entire healing period, but remember to take care of your new piercing and give it a break for at least one month.
Clean your piercing after sex
Piercings heal from the outside in, so even if the piercing looks nice after a short time, it is most likely not completely healed. Be patient, stick to the healing time you have been given, and do not change the jewelry on your own until you are sure that the piercing is completely healed. We are happy to help you change the jewelry, and if you buy this from us, we will exchange it at no extra cost. Then you are also sure that you get a size and design of the jewelry that is right for your piercing.
If you are wondering if everything is as it should be with your piercing or have any other questions, just contact us. We can check if everything is in order, and possibly offer advice to improve the situation.
You should also make an appointment for a check-up and jewelry change.
